Weight FAQ
Compounded semaglutide injections are a compounded form of the same GLP-1 hormone found in FDA-approved medications like Ozempic®, Wegovy®, and Rybelsus®. They are produced by a compounding pharmacy, making them both a more accessible option given medication shortages and a more affordable option for those whose insurance doesn't cover the cost of weight loss medications. This medication will ship conveniently to your door from Evernow pharmacy. Like most other compounded products, this compounded semaglutide is not FDA approved. This means that the FDA has not evaluated its safety or effectiveness.
This medication is a compounded form of generic semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist. Like other GLP-1 medications, it works by mimicking the GLP-1 hormone, promoting insulin production, blood sugar regulation and slowing digestion. Taken as a weekly injection, this semaglutide medication helps support weight loss when combined with diet and exercise.

We offer compounded semaglutide injections as a more affordable alternative to branded semaglutides. Most patients will begin with a lower dose and gradually increase it over the first few months until a steady dose is reached. This approach helps your body adjust to the medication and any potential side effects. Your healthcare provider will work with you to determine the best dosing schedule for you, based on your individual response and tolerance. Results may vary.
Common side effects of compounded semaglutide injections include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea, constipation, and decreased appetite. If you experience more serious symptoms like severe allergic reactions (swelling, difficulty breathing), pancreatitis (severe stomach or back pain), signs of very low blood sugar (shakiness, confusion), changes in eyesight, or dehydration (decreased urine output), stop the medication and seek medical attention. Contact your healthcare provider with any concerns about side effects.
Compounded semaglutide injections are a once weekly injection with a syringe and vial. If prescribed, you (or someone in your household) will select the prescribed dose and admister the injection under the skin of your abdomen, upper thigh or upper arm. While some patients may experience a mild pinprick sensation or slight skin irritation at the injection site, these effects are typically minimal. Follow your healthcare provider's instructions on administration and dose.
"GLP-1" stands for glucagon-like peptide-1, a natural hormone that helps your body regulate blood sugar, appetite and digestion. Synthetic versions of GLP-1s have been developed as medications to treat type 2 diabetes and obesity. These medications, known as GLP-1 agonists, work by mimicking the effects of the natural occuring hormone. Examples of GLP-1s include semaglutide and tirzepatide.
At Evernow, we're committed to helping you access the weight loss treatments that suit your needs. We offer compounded versions of GLP-1 medications, which are formulated in FDA-regulated facilities with the same active ingredients as name-brand GLP-1's. This helps to mitigate risk of medication shortages, so you can more confidently pursue your weight loss journey.
